CURRICULUM

Curriculum

We implement a child centered educational approach and progressive learning methodologies. With children’s inquiry at the center, we engage our students in learning experiences that inspire curiosity, interest and excitement. When children participate in play-based learning they develop new ways of thinking and commit their knowledge to long term memory. We engage all 5 senses and encourage students to be active participants in all of our learning activities.

Learning activities range from exposure to new and interesting materials to large scale celebrations. For instance, a walking trip to the local hair salon and dog groomers to support our unit on the study of brushes. Using STEM based activities, we incorporate units of study on the lifecycle of butterflies and the use of circumference to determine the age of trees.

Our curriculum integrates the language, culture, and traditions of Greece, Cyprus and the Greek Orthodox religion. Our dedicated Greek language teacher has regular lessons with our 3- and 4-year-old population. Our students attend church once a month and receive Holy Communion. Additionally, they are exposed to many Greek customs and celebrations, such as lighting the Christmas Karavaki in December and celebrating Greek Independence Day in March.
